The International Peace Garden is partnering with Boissevain School to incorporate special features in their kids' themed flower beds this summer.

"We are excited to be working with the Boissevain School and their shop classes in developing and building our storybook boxes that will be strategically placed around the formal area to feature books that are either the direct book that that design came from or something similar," says Peace Garden CEO Tim Chapman.

"To be able to share that process with some of our school aged kids locally is just a bonus on top of what was already a great idea!"

"We're real excited, and I think this is as excited as I've been when it comes to theme selection and how it's come about," shares Chapman.  "We really wanted to continue the effort we've been making in recent years along with the new play area and wanting to make the Peace Garden a full family experience across all generations."

"Our horticulturalist did a great job of designing and going through the creative process of thinking of classic books and classic book characters from the toddler range to pre-teens, and then designing beds with components of those characters and books," explains Chapman.

Boissevain's Goodon Industries is donating lumber to the project.  The new book boxes will be placed in the flower beds once the planting gets underway in June.

"It's going to see a lot of fun to see the look on kids' faces when they see the Clifford the Big Red Dog flower bed," adds Chapman, "or if they're a little older to see the Lord of the Rings styled flower beds. We're excited!"
