It's a Manitoba theme planned for a special evening of music December 2nd at the Centennial Concert Hall.

The world premiere of Manitoba's own Victor Davies's Violin Concerto will be performed that evening, A piece which was commision by Golden West Radio. The piece was composed for Plum Coulee born Rosemary Siemens who will be performing it that evening.

W.S.O. Executive Director Trudy Schroeder says in the past, running with an idea given to them by the public has always paid off in many ways for them.

Schroeder adds another feature of the evening which may bring in new spectators is a classic piece, also by Victor Davies, called the Mennonite Concerto. She notes this piece of music has not been performed live in Winnipeg in over 30 years.

The evening will also feature The Mennonite Festival Chorus who will perform a selection of hymns with the WSO.

Schroeder says it's wonderful to have to opportunity to pair a Manitoba writer, Manitoba Violinist, and a Manitoba based company together in the same program like this. She adds, they hope this will bring in new visitors to the W.S.O. who normally would not have attended.
