Mennonite World Conference 2015 is underway this week in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

MWC Assemblies are reunions of the Anabaptist-Mennonite family worldwide and take place every six years, made up of 102 Anabaptist-Mennonite Brethren in Christ national churches from around the world.

"We gather every six years in order to bring the global family together for fellowship, for worship, for service and to get to know one another," said Janet Plenert, conference vice president. "It's about getting to know one another to determine what we hold in common, how do we understand one another, how to we strengthen the body of Christ around the world in order to break down barriers and by building bridges of dialogue of understanding for one another."

This year's theme is "Walk With God" which, according to Plenert, relates well to the worldwide Anabaptist-Mennonite family.

MWC membership in 2015 included one international association and 102 Mennonite and Brethren in Christ national churches from 56 countries, with around 1.4 million baptized believers in close to 10,000 congregations.

Plenert points out the delegates attending this event come from a variety of nationalities and cultures which reveals how the face of the Anabaptist-Mennonite family worldwide is changing.

About 81% of baptized believers in MWC member churches are African, Asian or Latin American, and 19% are located in Europe and North America. This year's event wraps up on Sunday.
