The Manitoba Party's recent Official Party designation will give the it better credibility this provincial election. That from Spruce Woods candidate Malcolm McKellar.

"It may help get our message out but we still can't compete against the main parties for funding, we're basically independents running under a party platform."

He adds the Manitoba Party's main platform is lower taxes.

"When do we as a society say enough is enough? We've got to get our government spending under control."

And while McKellar says people have been receptive to this message, he adds there is also a lot of voter apathy among Manitobans.

"The main parties, the leaders, they're not inspiring anyone. That's the biggest problem."

He notes only forty-eight per cent of eligible voters cast a ballot in the last provincial election.

"We can't take democracy for granted, people have to get out and vote. If we can inspire people who didn't vote last time to vote (now), I think it works in our favour."

As for the remaining days of the campaign, McKellar plans to keep pounding the pavement and make his way through the riding for a third time.
