Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3 in Brandon has received new funding to help improve its accessibility.

Brandon-Souris MP Larry Maguire announced $50,000 in funding Friday, which will flow through the federal government's Enabling Accessibility Fund.

The money will go towards creating accessible office space in addition to installing accessible doors with automatic door openers.

Washroom facilities will also be retrofitted with accessible toilets, grab bars and taps.

"It's very important to be able to make sure that our veterans and seniors can have access to the legions for their regular services that legions provide for our veterans as well as for attending special events such as Remembrance Day services," said Maguire.
