The Virden Oilers scored early and often en route to a 10-2 game three win over Boissevain to clinch the best of five Southwest Baseball League final in three straight games.

Oilers first baseman Matt Gunning, who had 2 hits and 5 RBI on the night, broke the game opened in the first inning with a three run double.

"We came out gunning and it's been the same the past two games," explained player-manager Dez Koop. "Scoring those runs in the first inning is huge and getting ahead."

Zane Sawyer picked up the win for Virden.  The game 3 starter went the distance on the mound for the Oilers giving up eight Centennial hits while striking out seven.

Meanwhile, Jay Pringle took the loss for Boissevain.

"It (scoring runs) was tough," stated Centennials shortstop Cory Billaney.  "What we can control is ourselves and I don't think we did a good enough of a job rebounding after the provincials we were at. We seemed kind of flat as a team and that is on us."

Sawyer and Nolan Jago also had multi-hit games going 3 for 4 at the plate with an RBI.  Skylar Canada went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Boissevain.

"It means everything," shared Koop when asked what it means to win the league title.  "We have a lot of homegrown guys here and in our second year back in the league it's fantastic to see all the local guys back and having success."
