(l-r) Hugh Wong (Past President of VBall Canada), AM1250's Michelle Sawatzky (1996 Olympian and Bid Committee Member), Julien Boucher (High Performance Director for VBall Canada), John Blacher (Executive Director - VBall MB) and Monica Hitchcock (Board Member VBall Canada and 1984 Olympian)

Hugh, Julien and Monica were the three Volleyball Canada folks that the bid committee was trying to impress this past Thursday in a day of presentations and tours to convince them that Manitoba should remain "home" to our Canadian Women's Volleyball team. The Sports for Life Centre at 145 Pacific Avenue in Winnipeg would be the future home of the team and that was where they met. Toronto, Halifax and Vancouver are the other three cities who are bidding to host the team after the 1996 Olympic Games. Manitoba has been home to the national team since 1991, that's 24 years, and southern Manitoba will never forget the excitement of the 1996 Olympic qualifier that took place in Winnipeg and the buzz that surrounded the team during that time. We want to bring that back and with 2 of our top players being from Brandon and Dauphin -- rural Manitoba's support of the team is so important and essential to us winning the bid for our only Manitoba based National team. The decision will be made in January of 2016.
