Manitoba's top doctor is asking Manitobans yet again to stay home when they are not feeling well.

Dr. Brent Roussin says that too many people are still going out despite not feeling well.

"We've seen many instances of multiple contacts to cases because people are not staying home when symptomatic."

He stresses that people who are tested must be self-isolating until they get their results, which has not always been the case.

"We've had individuals who were symptomatic and even went for testing and yet still went out and had many contacts while the results were pending."

As the province grapples with rising COVID-19 numbers over recent weeks, Dr. Roussin says Manitobans need to change their behaviour and get back on track and follow the fundamentals that help curb the spread of COVID-19.

"Stay home when you're sick," he stressed. Dr. Roussin also reminds Manitobans to wash their hands regularly and to keep social-distancing in place.

"It's our layered approach. It protected us before and will do so at this time again."

Added to that list of fundamentals, according to Dr. Roussin, is the flu shot, and he urges Manitobans to get one as the flu season begins to arrive in the province.
