The Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur Wildcats, Dauphin Clippers and Neepawa Tigers were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League Wednesday night. Preston Shearer had a hat trick and Griffin Anderson had two goals and four assists as the Wildcats downed Reston/Elkhorn/Melita/Hartney 10-5. Tyron Sweetman scored three times as the Clippers beat the Sandy Bay Badgers 10-2. Riley Davie had two goals and an assist as the Tigers defeated Crocus Plains 5-1 at the Yellowhead Centre. 


The Virden Oil Capitals face the Steinbach Pistons tonight at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. The defending Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions lead the East Division with a 20-3-1 record. The Oil Capitals are 17-5-2-2 and in first place in the West. The Pistons 11-game winning streak came to an end this past Sunday at Stride Place. The Portage Terriers beat Steinbach 3-1. Virden is coming off a 2-1 victory over the Dauphin Kings Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.


The Winnipeg Jets begin their four-game road trip tonight in Denver as they take on the Colorado Avalanche. The Jets had two wins and two losses during their recently completed four-game homestand. 


Scott Milanovich is the new head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He guided the Toronto Argonauts to a Grey Cup title in 2012. The Montreal Alouettes extended the contract of Grey Cup MVP quarterback Cody Fajardo through the 2025 season.
