The Minnedosa Bombers and Pilot Mound Pilots were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League. Victor Lamb, Zane Sawyer and Bryson Werbicki-Mallett scored two goals each as Minnedosa downed Souris 8-1. Clay Bergeson and Tony Partridge also scored for the Bombers. Nolan Janz had the lone goal for the Elks. Dawson Lytle scored twice and Kyle Nixon had a goal and two assists as Pilot Mound defeated Carberry 7-4. Owen Anderson, Hayden Couling, James Van De Velde and Kalen Guimond also scored for the Pilots. Zaine McConnell had a pair of goals for the Plainsmen while the rest went to Zach Steen and Jackson Stephens.


In the Westman High School Hockey League - Tyler Huston scored twice as the Major Pratt Trojans doubled up the Crocus Plainsmen 4-2; Porter Ewert scored the go-ahead goal with 3:41 left in the third period as the Vincent Massey Vikings edged Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn 3-2 and Carson Krieser made 22 saves as Reston/Elkhorn/Melita/Pierson shaded Sandy Bay 2-1.


Colton Miller scored his second goal of the game at 11:25 of the third period and that was the winner as the Virden Oil Capitals defeated the Winnipeg Freeze 4-3 at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Andrew Blocker and Brody Wilson also scored for the Caps who trailed 3-2 heading into the final 20 minutes.


The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped a 5-2 decision to Calgary at Westoba Place. Zac Funk had two goals and three assists for the Hitmen. Luke Shipley and Brett Hyland scored for the Wheat Kings. Daniel Hauser made 19 saves as Winnipeg downed the Regina Pats 6-1. Aiden Oiring, Evan Friesen, Owen Pederson, Vladislav Shilo, Skyler Bruce and Graham Sward did the goal scoring for the Ice. 


The Winnipeg Jets gave up four second period goals and lost 5-2 to the Washington Capitals at Canada Life Centre. Adam Lowry and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored in the third period for the Jets. Washington's Alex Ovechkin scored his 797th career NHL goal into an empty net with 2:12 left in regulation. 


Kerri Einarson and Joël Retornaz won the Masters in Oakville, Ontario. Einarson outscored Rachel Homan 6-5 in an extra end in the womens final while Retornaz downed Bruce Mouat 6-2 in the men's final. It's the fifth career Grand Slam title for Einarson, third Val Sweeting, second Shannon Birchard and lead Briane Harris who also cashed in $35,000.
