Baseball Manitoba has announced its 2022 Provincial Championship schedule. Hamiota will host the 15U AA Provincials from July 15th-17th. Wawanesa will host both the Senior A and the Twi Lite (35 plus and 45 plus) Provincials July 22nd-24th, Brandon will be the site of the Prospects Showcase from July 22nd-24th. Brandon will also host the Provincial 15U AAA championship July 29th-31st and Rivers will host the Senior AA championship from August 5th-7th.


The Southwest Cougars play their regular season finale tonight in Winnipeg against the Wild. The Cougars have 39 points and are tied with the Winnipeg Thrashers for seventh place in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League. Southwest is just one point back of the sixth place Winnipeg Bruins. 


The Westman Wildcats can advance to round two of the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League playofffs with a win tonight over the Central Plains Capitals in Hartney. The Wildcats lead the best-of-five quarterfinal two games to none after beating the Capitals 5-0 and 3-2.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed receiver T.J. Simmons and defensive back Tyrique Mcghee. Simmons spent three years as a Mountaineer, hauling in 86 receptions for 1,197 yards and nine touchdowns at West Virginia. The Birmingham native spent the first year of his collegiate career at Alabama before deciding to transfer to West Virginia. In 2020, Simmons finished 33rd nationally and 2nd in the Big 12 in yards per receptions (17.4). After going undrafted, Simmons signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was released during training camp last year. Mcghee spent the 2020 season on the L.A. Rams practice squad. He played in 50 games with the Georgia Bulldogs at a variety of defensive back positions, recording  53 total tackles, nine pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.
