"We're always looking for folks, especially locals who know the Garden and already have a passion for it," shares CEO of the International Peace Garden, Tim Chapman. "Even if they're looking for just part time work there's a lot of great opportunities across all departments!"

Chapman says they're usually able to build up their summer staff load through Manitoba Green Teams and Canada Summer Jobs.  "This really helps us hire more Canadians especially up to the age of 29 which is what those grants include.  So, anyone who is still looking for summer work and interested in a real fun experience working outside or in one of visitor services areas at one of the most unique places in the world, we'd love to hear from them!"

The Peace Garden had wanted to build a special staff headquarters, much like a home base for all staff.  "But due to the process of the big capital projects over the past few years, that fell out of budget," explains Chapman. "So, it's still definitely a goal within the next 10 years to better figure out a way to increase efficiency better.  And a building like that can also be a base for the volunteers themselves."

Refreshing the Willis Pavilion is on the 'to do' list this summer.  Chapman says the plan is to renovate now during the warmer months ahead of next winter.   Renovations include replacing many windows and doors, the aesthetics of the building, as well as redoing, the kitchen.

"So, it's not going to be the most accessible building this summer, but one bonus of doing this in the warm season is that we're avoiding the heating costs of doing it in the wintertime, and all the challenges that come with winter construction," he adds.

"So, in 2025 it will be that beautiful wedding venue and facility to host a variety of events again!"
