The financial plans for the 2016 budget for the Town of Neepawa are complete and set to be unveiled on the 19th. Mayor Adrian De Groot says the plans for this years budget go beyond 2016.

"We're kind of focusing on that forward looking plan. We're looking at not only what we're doing in this particular budget, but at the long term plan as well and that includes a 5 year plan, but that's only 1 of a whole pile of pages of plans."

De Groot says another thing they plan to talk about is earlier pre-budget meetings.

"We want to get into a situation where the pre-budget meetings are going to be before the end of the year, rather than what is being perceived as the 11th hour. You know, do we want input earlier in the process? My answer to that is yes. Hopefully we'll start looking at October or November for the meetings."

He explains why it's important for you to come if you live in the area.

"It's really important because it affects your property tax and what you'll be paying for taxes in 2016. It also gives an opportunity to see some of the realities of where the municipality spends their dollars and that awareness helps with questions and understanding."

The meeting is on Tuesday, April 19th at 6:00 p.m.
