On November 11, 2020, at approximately 7:20 am, Arborg and Gimli RCMP received a report of a hunting accident that occurred in a field across from municipal Road 11 East, just east of Malonton, Manitoba.

When officers arrived, EMS were on scene preparing to transport a 45-year-old male to Winnipeg hospital with a gunshot wound.

A bullet entered the wooden hunting blind, injuring one male inside

Initial investigation has determined that two hunters - the victim and a 41-year-old male - were inside a wooden hunting blind on the treeline looking onto the field. The two were preparing to hunt for the day and watching a deer in the middle of the field, when a white pickup truck pulled up and parked at the entrance to the field. Two males exited the vehicle. Both were wearing orange. Shots were fired at the deer in the field, the shots entered the hunting blind, and the victim was struck by one of the bullets.

The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.

RCMP are looking for the two individuals who were in the truck. It is believed to be an older model white Chevrolet pickup truck.
