Video surveillance helps BPS nab suspect in credit card theft and fraud case

August 13th Report: IPDA On August 12th at approximately 11:47 PM, a report was received regarding a male attempting to gain entry into a residence in the 500 block of 17th Street via the door. The suspect then left the home. Based on the suspect description provided and the caller's assistance in maintaining visual contact, officers located and arrested the 33-year-old intoxicated male. The male was lodged in the Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells and will be released once sober. Theft Under $5000 On August 12th at approximately 11:16 PM, a traffic stop was conducted in the 000 block of 10th Street. As a result, a 39-year-old female was arrested on the strength of an outstanding RCMP Warrant of Arrest (Theft Under $5000). She was released on an Appearance Notice with a scheduled court date of October 15th, 2025. Breach of the Peace In the last 24 hours three individuals were arrested and held in BPS detention cells due to Breach of the Peace. They will be released once sober. Possession Stolen Credit Card / Failure to Attend Court On August 12th at 8:34AM police located a man in the 700 block of Princess Avenue who they arrested on the strength of his unendorsed Warrant of Arrest. The 26-year-old male was held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning. Failure to Comply Release Order On August 12th, while concluding a call in the 300 block of 10th Street, officers observed a female known to be the subject of an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Failing to Comply with a Release Order (failure to report to probation). She was taken into custody and held in BPS detention cells to attend court in the morning. August 14th Report: Arrest Warrant On August 13th at 9:36AM a 47-year-old male was observed by BPS Cadets in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue who was known to have a Warrant for Arrest. (Failure to Attend Court as a witness). He was located by police, arrested on the strength of his warrant and held at BPS detention cells to attend court later in the afternoon. Arrest Warrants X4 On August 13th at 9:45AM police were called to the 900 block of 18th Street where a wellness check was requested for a male sleeping alongside a building. Police attended and located a 43-year-old male who was found to be wanted on an Unendorsed Warrant from Roblin RCMP, and three Unendorsed Warrants from Rossburn RCMP. The male was arrested and held in BPS detention cells for court in the morning. Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card X3 / Possess Property Obtained by Crime On August 10th, a break-in involving a company vehicle was reported in the 000 block of 10th Street. A credit card was stolen during the incident and subsequently used on four occasions on August 11th, with total fraudulent charges amounting to $87.31. Video surveillance footage enabled police to identify a 34-year-old male suspect. On August 13th at approximately 2:22 PM, BPS Cadets observed the suspect on Rosser Avenue and notified police. Responding officers attended the scene and arrested the individual without incident. He was transported to the Brandon Police Service (BPS) for processing and was later released on an Undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 23rd, 2025. Theft Turns into Multiple Charges On August 13th at 8:10PM an employee from a business in the 800 block of 18th Street, reported a female shoplifter. A female matching the description was found in the area by police. When police attempted to arrest her, she resisted and struck an officer in the head (no injuries). The 33-year-old female was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning. She is charged with Assault Officer, Resist Officer, Theft Under $5000x2 (warrant and new charge), and Failure to Comply Probation (warrant).
