COVID-19 has claimed the lives of two more Manitobans.

According to the province's latest daily update issued Tuesday afternoon, the 10th and 11th deaths both occurred in the Southern Health-Sante Sud region. They are a man in his 80s from the Hanover health district and a man in his 90s from the Niverville/Ritchot health district. Both had been hospitalized. Public health officials say these cases were previously reported and connected to known clusters.

In addition, Manitoba reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday. The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.8 per cent.

There are 2 new cases in Interlake–Eastern Health region; 2 in the Prairie Mountain Health region; 2 in Southern Health–Santé Sud; and 11 new cases in the Winnipeg health region.

Cases identified today include:
 a female in her 50s from Interlake–Eastern Health;
 a female in her 70s from Interlake–Eastern Health;
 a male between the ages of zero and nine from the Prairie Mountain Health region;
 a female in her 50s from the Prairie Mountain Health region;
 a male in his 70s from Southern Health–Santé Sud;
 a male in his 80s from Southern Health–Santé Sud;
 a male between the ages of zero to nine from the Winnipeg health region;
 a male between the ages of zero to nine from the Winnipeg health region;
 a female in her 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a male in his 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a male in his 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a male in his 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a male in his 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a male in his 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a female in her 30s from the Winnipeg health region;
 a female in her 30s from the Winnipeg health region; and
 a male in his 30s from the Winnipeg health region.

According to Public Health, preliminary investigations indicate the Winnipeg cases are mostly related to contacts that turned into cases, but says there are cases with unknown acquisition in the region. Case investigations are ongoing and when they are completed, additional information will be provided as needed to inform of any public health risks.

Meantime, one previously reported case of COVID-19 has been removed from the list of cases, bringing Manitoba's total case load to 748.

Currently eight people are hospitalized due to the novel Coronavirus, with two in intensive care. There are 235 active cases. 502 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. The number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Manitoba is now 11.

Testing numbers show an additional 1,028 laboratory tests were completed on Monday, bringing the total number of tests completed since early February to 116,990.
