Reston residents are on evacuation notice.

Another 4 inches of rain hit that community on Tuesday night. Reeve Ross Tycoles says they were just starting to get a leg up on the 7 inches of rain that fell last Friday when the next wave of rain hit the town. “What we did Tuesday night was set up an evacuation centre. We went along the two streets on the west side of town and met with the residents and asked them to go to the rink. As of Wednesday if you hear the siren that means the highway is releasing and water is coming into town. Just be prepared.”

The weather has created a lot of work for municipal crews, emergency workers and volunteers. “We could sure use some extra help and if anybody has time to come and work a pump or help out in any way please give the municipal office a call at 204-877-3327.”

An official with the Fort La Bosse School Division says some roads are impassable and school in Reston has been called off for Wednesday.
