The following is the RCMP report to January 2, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 11 traffic violations

- 6 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 12 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 7 crimes against property

- 2 other criminal code

- 7 crimes against persons

- 3 traffic accidents

- 1 impaired driving investigation

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: 

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

December 21, 2023

Police were asked to do a well-being check in Belmont. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Waskada. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of failing to comply with an undertaking in Boissevain. The matter was unfounded.

RCMP responded to a two-vehicle accident at an intersection near Hartney. Minor injuries were sustained. Both vehicles could not stop due to the ice on the road and slid through the intersection colliding.

Police received a report of trespassing in the Deloraine-Winchester area. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

December 22, 2023

Police received a report of uttering threats in Boissevain. The matter was unfounded.

 

December 23, 2023

Police received a report of an assault in Belmont. A male was arrested.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

 

December 24, 2023

Police received a noise complaint on Laurier Avenue in Killarney. The homeowner was warned to keep the music down.

 

December 26, 2023

Police received a report of a collision in Killarney. No injuries.

Police received a report of failure to comply with an undertaking. A female was warned.

 

December 27, 2023

Police received a report of an impaired driver in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a theft in Boissevain. The matter was unfounded as it was a civil matter.

 

December 28, 2023

Police received a report of an assault in the Cartwright-Roblin area. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a break and enter to a garage in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

December 29, 2023

Police were asked to do a well-being check in Boissevain. Everyone located safe.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle reported on Willis Street scoping out properties. Police attended and the vehicle was gone on arrival.

 

December 30, 2023

Police received a report of a stolen vehicle overnight in Killarney. The keys were left in the centre console and the vehicle was unlocked. The vehicle was later recovered that afternoon in Killarney. The vehicle was towed by the complainant before police could arrange a forensic examination.

Police received a report of an unwanted person at a residence in Boissevain. The matter was handled peacefully.

 

December 31, 2023

Police received a request through ambulance to check on a person in Goodlands. They were believed to have a broken ankle and need medical attention. Police attended with ambulance, but the person refused medical care and were uncooperative with Police.

Police received a report of an assault in the Boissevain-Morton area. One male with injuries but did not request medical attention. Police attended and arrested another male who was lodged. The male was later released on an undertaking.

Police received a report of an assault in Boissevain. A male was charged with assault and released on an undertaking.

 

January 1, 2024

Police received a report of a domestic assault in the Cartwright-Roblin area. A female suffered injuries and was treated at hospital. A male was taken into custody and later released on an undertaking.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family law Act in Killarney.

Police were dispatched to a fire in the RM of Argyle. Everyone evacuated and no injuries.

 

January 2, 2024

Police received a report of a break and enter to a business in Killarney. Tools, a gas card and a work truck were stolen. The work truck was later returned. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of keys stolen from a vehicle on New Years Eve in Killarney. The complainant had left the keys in the vehicle in the cup holder and when they returned the keys were gone. Three youth were seen hanging around the parking lot between 11:15pm and 11:45pm. Camera footage is being reviewed and the matter is under investigation.

Police received another report of a vehicle broken into on New Years Eve in Killarney. The vehicle was unlocked and several small items stolen.

Police received a call to advise there was a suspicious vehicle on the east side of Holmfield. Unknown person has been sitting in a truck for the past few hours.  Police patrolled spoke with one person in a vehicle sitting in their own driveway, they had not seen anything suspicious.

Police would like to remind the public to keep vehicles locked up and do not leave valuables in vehicles.

 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
