The following is the RCMP report to December 5, 2023.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 24 traffic violations

- 12 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 16 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 21 crimes against property

- 7 other criminal code

- 6 crimes against persons

- 2 impaired investigation

- 4 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

 

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

November 16, 2023

Police received a report of a theft in Killarney. The matter was resolved.

Police received a dispatch for a single vehicle accident in the RM of Argyle. No injuries.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of Facebook fraud in the Brenda-Waskada area. The complainant had sent 2 separate E-transfers, both for $200 as a deposit. The complainant was to pick up the items this coming Saturday but has now been blocked on Facebook. It was reported for information.

Police received a report of a domestic assault in Boissevain. One male was arrested, charged and released on an undertaking to have no contact with the victim.

 

November 17, 2023

Police received a report of an impaired driver on highway 10. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of an attempted break and enter to a house in Killarney.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney. The matter was resolved.

Police received a report of an assault a few days ago in Killarney. The matter was resolved.

 

November 18, 2023

Police were dispatched to a check well-being in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

While on patrol in Killarney, police noticed a male walking down Broadway with open liquor. The male was found to have multiple weapons on him. The male was arrested, charged and lodged until sober. He was later remanded to Brandon Correctional Centre.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Lauder. The matter is under investigation.

Police were dispatched to a report of shots heard 5 minutes ago in Killarney. The complainant heard 6 loud booms, thinks they could be gunshots.   Then a white 2 door car went speeding north on the street.  Police were in the area at the time and did not hear any gun shots, but did hear booms, suspect it was fireworks.  Patrols were made, nothing suspicious found.

 

November 19, 2023

Police did a well-being check in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of an assault in Boissevain. One male was lodged for night. The matter was resolved.

 

November 20, 2023

Police received a report of a lost iPhone 15 in Boissevain. If anyone has found the phone, please call the Boissevain RCMP.

Police received a report of a break and enter to a residence in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of breach of peace in Boissevain. An argument had taken place but no physical violence. Police attended and found everything was calm and everyone advised things were fine.

Police received a report of public mischief in Killarney. The matter is being investigated.

 

November 24, 2023

Police received a report of a break and enter in Lauder. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of utter threats in the Grassland municipality. The matter is being investigated.

 

November 25, 2023

Police received a report of a break and enter to the pool hall in Deloraine. Police attended. A lock was cut to gain access and an unknown amount of confectionary was stolen. No witnesses, suspects or evidence left.

Police received a report of the United Church and secondhand store in Hartney were broken into. The matter is under investigation.

 

November 26, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Baldur.

Police received a report of a theft in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is under investigation.

 

November 27, 2023

Police received a report of a found snowmobile trailer in the Deloraine-Winchester area. The trailer had previously been stolen. The trailer was returned to the owner.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Holmfield. Police attended the location and located the female who confirmed they were the person looking for a ride when a male wouldn't give her keys back. No other allegations made.

 

November 28, 2023

Police received a report of a fraud in RM of Grassland. The complainant was selling puppies online when a female reached out and stated her husband would send the e-transfer. Initially the etransfer was flagged and would not go through so a second etransfer was sent. The etransfer prompted the complainant to enter a code that they received to accept the etransfer. They entered the code which somehow gave the sender access to the bank account. They were able to etransfer $2850.00 out of the complainants account. The matter is under investigation.

 

November 29, 2023

Police received a report of fraud in Deloraine. The matter is under investigation.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the Cartwright-Roblin area.

 

November 30, 2023

Anonymous tip received about a male in Hartney driving with illegal plates. Insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a 911 call from a business in Boissevain.  An unknown male came to the business was yelling at staff that they were not allowed to use forklifts on road.  They have an agreement with the town that they can close off street in their yard to unload trucks. Police contacted the male and he was warned.

 

December 1, 2023

Police received a report of stolen license plate in Deloraine. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

Police were called to Laurier Avenue in Killarney for noise complaint. Police advised to turn the music down. Same done.

 

December 2, 2023

Police received a report of suspicious males sleeping in a vehicle in Ninette. Police attended and males were waiting for gas station to open. Nothing suspicious.

 

December 3, 2023

Police received a report of a theft in the Cartwright-Roblin area. The matter was unfounded.

 

December 4, 2023

Police received a 911 of possible impaired driver in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at highway 23 and highway 18. The male driver showed signs of impairment. The roadside screening device demand was made. Sample provided a "Fail" result. The  90 day Immediate Roadside Suspension was issued. 

Police received a report of a possible break and enter on Mountain Avenue in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

December 5, 2023

Police received a report of failing to comply with an undertaking in Boissevain. Matter is being investigated.

 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
