The International Peace Garden will be hosting the Turtle Mountain Tourism Summit again this year!

"We're very excited to be hosting the Tourism Summit the second year in a row," says Peace Garden CEO Tim Chapman.

"We thought last year went so well, just as a chance to drive some momentum to drive everyone to our region to see the value in cross promotion in working together. So, we had a lot of great speakers last year from Travel Manitoba and North Dakota Tourism talking about how they can be of support," explains Chapman.

"So, we want to take the next step this year and really focus on some workshops, allowing everyone, whether its municipalities, or actual museums and attractions, to leave the summit knowing that they have some strong contacts and some drafts of workplans that they can actually see through and start this year."

The Summit will take place on Thursday May 9th at the Cacti & Succulent Conservatory at the Peace Garden just south of Boissevain.

The cost is $10 per person (and this includes lunch) or if a community or business would like to have a table set up promoting their locale/organization, the cost is $25 per table and includes 2 registrants for the Summit (and it includes lunch).

In addition, there will be a door prize for a $1,000 credit from Travel MB and a $1,000 credit from Tourism ND to promote your community/business on both sides of the border.  When you arrive to the Summit, be sure to enter as they'll be drawing the prize just before the end of the day's events.

"And hopefully whomever wins that will get to see a little more firsthand the resources that are available through the province and the state, and how they approach things with best practices that can then be put into practice locally," explains Chapman, "because not everyone has the budget to do those sorts of things."

"But the more you feel comfortable with the process and how to do it, the more by working with each other throughout the area, we can accomplish a lot when it comes to getting the word out about how great the Turtle Mountain area is and what it has to offer."
