The Manitoba Metis Federation held another successful annual assembly in Brandon on the weekend.
Will Goodon, formerly of Boissevain, co-chaired the assembly. His court case two years ago was supposed to pave the way for improved hunting rights for Metis. He says since the decision the province hasn't done a thing.

Goodon was charged in 2004 after he shot a duck near Turtle Mountain. He claimed his Metis harvester card was all he needed and the court agreed.

Another part of the Federation's annual assembly was the youth sessions.

Roger Goodin, chair of the Cherry Creek local, is a Korean war veteran. He spoke to youth delegates about his experiences. The MMF proclaimed 2011 as Year of the Metis Veteran.
