The Manitoba Wildlife Federation is hosting their annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman at the end of May, this being their 30th year for the event that instructs and mentors women in a wide variety of outdoor skills.

"There are about 45 different workshops taking place throughout the weekend and we're expecting another great group of ladies," says MWF Managing Director, Carly Deacon. "We have a few new courses in the roster that we haven't offered before and so that's very exciting. Folks who have gone to BOW before might want to take in a couple of extra sessions that they have not tried before."

Regular workshops such as hunting, fishing and trapping are always on the list of outdoor activities, but Deacon says this year's new workshops will include sausage making skills, cheese making, foraging for mushrooms, outdoor mechanics, and many more.

"This is year our 30th Anniversary so it's a big year for Becoming an Outdoors Woman in Manitoba," adds Deacon. "So, we're going to have a little bit of a western theme which suits the Circle Square Ranch because of this little western village they have out there, it's so great!  We'll have a pig roast and live music on Friday to celebrate, and then a banquet and live auction on Saturday.  And then we'll have some extras for the ladies to bond, make relationships and friendships and have some fun!"
