Premier Greg Selinger and MP Merv Tweed

The Federal and Provincial governments plan to spend more than 10 million dollars to upgrade Highway 10 north of Brandon.

Premier Greg Selinger was in Brandon Wednesday for the announcement. He says 15 kilometers of highway between Brandon and the River's turn off will be upgraded including the addition of passing lanes.

Brandon-Souris MP Merv Tweed was asked about communities south of Brandon that have been lobbying for an upgrade along  Highway 10.

Upgrades north of Brandon include resurfacing, widening shoulders and going from gravel to paved shoulders with rumble strips. 1.5 kilometers of passing lanes will also be constructed.

Work will start this spring and should be completed by the fall of 2012.
