The Canadian Foodgrains Bank and and Manitoba Agricultural Museum in Austin announced a world record attempt yesterday.

July 31st, 2016 Harvesting Hope will host over 500 volunteers from 100 communities across Canada as they operate vintage threshing machines from the early 20th century to harvest a crop of wheat.

The goal is to have the most vintage threshing machines operating at one time.

Farm Broadcaster Amy-Jean MacLean was at the kick-off announcement at the Red River Ex Grounds on Winnipeg's west side, and spoke with Amanda Thorsteinsson of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank about what's to come.

Harvesting Hope will be held in conjunction with the 62nd Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion & Stampede July 31st near Austin.

Proceeds from the event will support the efforts of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to help end global hunger, and the Manitoba Agricultural Museum’s work to preserve Manitoba’s rural heritage.
