Tuesday marks the beginning a very special three days for Union Gospel Mission (UGM) and its Charis Centre program. Over the next three days UGM is hoping to raise $100,000 to support the work of the Winnipeg based addiction's program for women.

We helped kick off that fundraising drive by having Charis Program Manager Adele Plett Bartel as our guest to talk about the program, its importance and why you should consider making a donation.

The live in program is available to any woman dealing with addictions and is available for 30 day and one year stays, which can be extended to two years.

We asked Adele to share a story of someone who entered the program.

Adele also spoke to us about what she enjoys the most of being part of this very personal and challenging journey for the women who enter the Charis Centre program.

Over 60 women have graduated from the Charis Centre 30 Day program, and 23 women have graduated from the one-year HEART program, but a huge need remains... and this need is from women from al walks and stages of life and from across the province including rural and urban areas.
