Across the miles, thousands of them to be exact, and through the years, about five. That's the background behind the story we shared on Tuesday's Morning Show.

Australia's Melita Corbin and Altona's Cheryl Krahn met through the Manitoba Sunflower Festival Queen Pageant.

From that experience years ago, the two have kept in touch and have become the best of friends, and in an age when many of us are too easily absorbed in our hand-held devices, this story of friendships struck a chord with us.

We begin with Cheryl, who now works with Child and Family Services in Bloodvein, talking about how the two first met.

The duo is seeing each for the first time in about 5 years, but you wouldn't know it from the way they are around each other. We continue with Altona's Cheryl Krahn talking about what she's gained from having a close friend half a world a way.

And a big congratulations to Cheryl whose wedding day is Saturday, and a great reason for Melita to cross the Pacific Ocean and half the country to be part of it.
