Westman Youth for Christ are bringing their second annual Art Show & Sale to raise funds for their Creative Programming!

The event takes place May 23-24 at the Brandon Fire Hall Event Venue and this year's theme will be an explosion of color adorning the tables!  

"This year's theme is Be Bold - bold colors, bold lines, and bold textures.  Your art must include at least one of these bold elements," shares Dawn Redlin, Therapeutic Art Coach and Creative Program Director for Brandon and Area Youth for Christ. "I'm very excited to see what comes to this year's show!"

And for those who'd like to donate a piece, they are still welcoming artists from Brandon and beyond to donate pieces of art to their fundraiser.

Funds raised will go towards 'Our Creative Journey Program' where Redlin coaches young people through the power of art to help them sort through their struggles and challenges.

Redlin herself is an artist.  She says her own creative journey brought her passion for art together with the passion to mentor young people together.  And it all started with prayer.  She was meeting with some of her fellow staff members at Westman YFC and the conversation developed into a new program.

"They were saying they wished we could have something that youth could express themselves through art," she explains. "We often have youth in our programs who are quite artistic and don't have access to supplies or space to do art projects and so that's just where this came from.  God just told me, 'You can do this!'"

"So, that's kind of how our Create program started in 2019, and that was just Tuesday evening at that point," she adds. "And then in the last year we've expanded to Monday afternoons and into the therapeutic art."

"So, yes we are expanding but unfortunately we need funding to do that so that's where this fundraiser comes in," adds Redlin. "So, we're really hoping we sell tons of tickets to the show, and we get lots of artists involved!"
