One of Brandon's oldest organizations is celebrating its 110th anniversary with a campaign to fundraise money to continue to pay for its programs.

YWCA Brandon's $110 for 110 campaign is officially underway, and is inviting the public to donate $110 for the benefit of its children's programs.

"The money raised with this campaign will go to the YWCA Brandon, but specifically to help our children's programming as it is the most in need. If you want to stop domestic violence, the best way to stop it is before it starts and that's with the kids. If we can't council the kids and educate the kids, it's just a cycle that will keep going," said Marketing Officer BJ Kirouac.

The campaign is also challenging those who donate to post a picture or a video of their donation to social media with a caption explaining why they chose to give money, and tag friends in the post to match the donation amount.

YWCA Brandon has two main centres for women and children in need. One is Meredith Place Transitional Shelter and the other is Westman Women's Shelter.
