The mayor of the Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone has attended his final AMM convention.  David Single says he's not running for re-election next year so the convention in Brandon this past week will be his last.  Single notes he always enjoys these events, adding it's a learning experience and a great chance to meet new people as well as catch up with folks he doesn't get to see very often.  He says this year's convention covered many ongoing issues such as drainage, roads, and gravel---the kinds of things which municipalities have to deal with all the time.

Single notes the proposal to change infrastructure funding is important.  He adds federal, provincial and local governments have been paying one third each so it would be good to see it go to a forty/forty/twenty structure instead.  Single says the biggest factor is actually the total size of the pot of money which determines how many municipalities are going to get grants, adding there is some concern about that as well.
