A spokesperson for WestJet says they'd like to see more people using the direct flight between Brandon and Toronto, which was temporarily added to the schedule earlier this summer.

Robert Palmer says although WestJet is concerned, they have noticed numbers picking up in recent weeks.

“It is off to a bit of a slow start but that's not that unusal,” he explained. “It does take time, we know from having launched many routes, obviously over the last 20 years that WestJet has been around. These things take time. It takes time to raise awareness and for that awareness to turn into reservations.”

Palmer says no decision has been made yet on whether or not to make the flight permanent.

The direct flight from Brandon to Toronto is being offered four times per week throughout the summer months.

Palmer notes the Brandon to Calgary flight that was added in recent years has become very popular, and he hopes the Toronto option follows suit.
