Pine Creek School Division will need a new Superintendent after this  school year.

"It's a very exciting time for us," says current Superintendent Brian Gouriluk,. "My wife and I look forward to having more time with family and more time to travel, but I'll also miss the colleagues and many people in the educational community that I've worked with for the past 36 years throughout Manitoba, and last seven years here in Pine Creek."

Gouriluk says they've developed a strong collaborative culture between the community and the school's, and he has a lot of personal highlights.

"I would say there's been a lot of really great moments," laughs Gouriluk. "As a school superintendent, I always like to remember I'm a school superintendent, not an office superintendent. I Love to Read month is always one of my favourite times of the year because I visit a lot of classes, this year I read to over 20 different groups of kids. Every time we're with students it reminds us why we do the work we do, and puts a really good lens on our job and reminds us we're working for kids."

Gouriluk feels they've gone through seven years of stability and he'd like to see them maintain that stability over the comings years.

"I'm excited about retirement," adds Gouriluk. "In the first year, we will probably spend a lot of time with family and travelling. I do think I'll stay involved, I have long looked forward to volunteering overseas in an educational role and that is something I could see myself doing as long as I'm healthy."

There has been no word on who will replace Gouriluk at the end of this year.
