Heavy winds and favorable drying conditions helped farmers to keep planting in most of southwestern Manitoba.

The weekly crop report from Manitoba Agriclutre indicates most areas have optimum soil moisture and soil temperature has increased significantly in the last ten days.

Seeding is estimated at 25 to 30% complete, with the greatest progress in spring wheat and field peas.

Some areas in the extreme southwest are still wet from previous years.

Walter Finlay farms north of Souris and he hopes rain in this week's forecast doesn't cause too many problems.
Finlay says about 50% of his crop land remains too wet to be seeded.

Finlay says producers are positive about this year's crop and just hope they can a majority of their land seeded.

Feed supplies are tight but lasting. most areas are dry and could use some precipitation with the exception of the extreme southwest.
