Manitoba Ag Days is the event that bids hundreds of businesses to showcase their new and innovative ideas and products.

Killarney’s Raymond and Jacki Enns had many outdoor enthusiasts stop by their display table to ask questions about their sleek and streamlined Robotic Lawn Mowers.

The Enns family has been encouraging easy summer lawn care in a unique (and rather fun!) way through their home-based business, ‘Let it Mow’, featuring the Ambrogio brand name.

The robotic mower will navigate on its own and keep the grass at a consistent height. “They sort of act like your robotic vacuums,” explains Ray.

“They will go out and do your random patterns to mow your grass. And once your battery runs low, it will go back automatically to its charging station to charge back up. Once it’s ready to go again, it will go back out and keep mowing until it’s done.”

There are some 16 models of varying sizes of the Ambrogio Robotic Lawn Mower and it can be programmed to mow at any time of the day or night, even while you’re sleeping.

Enns says a typical in-town lot sized mower can run up to about 3 hours before needing to recharge its battery. “It can get most of a lawn done in that time, but if not it will go back out the next day and finish up.”

He says the larger model is set up to mow a rural yard some 2 acres large, and multiple units can be set up to mow in a special configuration on larger farmyards.

Enns explains the various safety features. “Of course, if anything goes wrong there is a stop button right on top that can be hit to stop it immediately. There are bump sensors that are very sensitive so that if it bumps into something it will stop and turn around and go in a different direction. If they’re lifted up at all they will shut off right away.”

The units are smartphone friendly and can be controlled through your phone app, or from the unit display itself. It can also be linked up to your Bluetooth and used as a remote control.

Enns says the Ambrogio Robotic Lawn Mower was well-received at this year’s Ag Days and brought lots of questions and attention to this new way for Canadians to keep the grass down.

He laughs when he says, “The robotic lawn mower is kind of new to the Canadian market, but it’s been in Europe for the past 18 years. This Ambrogio mower has been manufactured in Italy since 2002.”

The Enns family, through their business, “Let it Mow”, have been enjoying bringing this innovative lawn care strategy to Southwestern Manitoba over the past year.
