Restoration work continues on the Provincial Exhibition's 1913 Dome Building in Brandon, which is located on the Keystone Centre grounds.

General Manager Ron Kristjansson says the exterior of the building has been completed and crews are now focusing on the inside.

“We're working hard moving into the interior development. We've completed the heritage restoration of the entrance ways. We've got brand new replica heritage doors on there that just look incredible.”

Kristjansson notes the interior walls have been framed and the interior windows have also been installed. The interior wiring and insulation is also being worked on.

The building will serve as office space for the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba.

One of the challenges, according to Kristjansson is keeping the building in its original form. He says close to 90 per cent of the building is made of original material.

The restoration project is estimated to cost around $7 million.

It's expected to be completed in 2017.
