The following is the RCMP report to May 31, 2016. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

May 19, 2016

Police received a report from a resident in Hartney when a headless duck was located on her front porch by the front door. The head was not located. The complainant was not overly concerned and the matter was reported for information purposes. Fowl play is suspected.

Curfew checks were performed on an individual in Killarney. The individual was not home during the curfew check times and fail to comply charges were laid.

May 21, 2016

Police received a report of breach of peace on Laurier Avenue in Killarney when an outdoor party was ongoing. The party had moved on a short time later.

Police were dispatched to a tractor fire in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. Nothing suspicious and no injuries.

A 2 member ATV patrol was conducted in the Pelican Lake area from 15:00 - 22:00 and 6 traffic notices were issued. Patrols to continue throughout the summer.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Relations Act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester.

Police received a report of assault in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

May 22, 2016

Police received a complaint of theft from the Ninette Hotel. The matter is under investigation.

Police were dispatched through 911 for a single vehicle accident on William Lake Road. The two occupants were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Alcohol or speed were not a factor and no charges were laid.

A complaint of approximately 20 ATVs driving quickly through 40 km/h zone on Pelican Lake Road. Some drivers were wearing helmets and some not. Police attended, patrolled area, and setup radar in 40 km/h zone. Police will be making more patrols this summer on the ATVs.

May 23, 2016

Police received a report of a Facebook; Hotmail; and Skype accounts have been hacked. The complainant was advised to report directly to the providers. There is no way for police to trace the `hacker.`

May 25, 2016

Police received a report of uttering threats in Waskada. The matter is being investigated.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Relations Act in Hartney.

Police received a report of damage to a window by a golf ball. The complainant turned over two golf balls (one pink and one purple) which likely belong to the mini golf across the street. Spoke with mini put owner who had no suspects in mind. File number provided for insurance.

Police are investigation a possible breach of undertaking.

May 26, 2016

Police received a report of a break and enter to a business in Baldur. The matter is under investigation.

Police also received a report of two break and enter to businesses in Cartwright. Also under investigation.

Police received a report of someone trying light a ditch on fire three times over the last two months in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester.

Police received a report of mischief to a vehicle in Boissevain.

May 27, 2016

Police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding children on bikes riding on the sidewalks. Bikes are allowed on the sidewalks if the tires are less than 24". Parents should remind children to wear their bike helmets and be careful when crossing streets or riding on streets.

May 29, 2016

Police received a call regarding a small black dog has been hanging around a residence all day and has done some digging in the flower bed. Police suggested posting a photo of the dog on the Killarney Facebook Buy&Sell as he has seen this work in the past for locating owners of stray animals. The complainant was also provided with animal control's phone number.

May 30, 2016

Police received a report of damage to a vehicle when the window was broken while parked on North Railway Street. Reported for autopac purposes.

Police received a report of mischief to the school building and canoes in Deloraine. The matter is under investigation.

May 31, 2016

Police received a report of identity theft. The complainant learned that several credit cards had been opened in his name, using his SIN and various addresses across Canada. He suffered no financial loss and has been in touch with credit card companies to advise (they will investigate), credit rating organizations to correct, and Canada Post to ensure no attempts were made to change his address.

FUN FACTS FOR THE WEEK

The fine for open liquor in a boat or vehicle is $237.50.

Consuming liquor in a public place will cost you $673.65.

Consuming liquor as a minor is $673.65 and supplying minors will cost you $2,543.65!!!!

Remember in a construction zone, the fines for speeding double. Not wearing your seatbelt is a gamble and will cost you $299.65.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Child Abuse Registry checks are NOT done through the RCMP. Please call 1-800-282-8069 for any information on the Child Abuse Registry. Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches: Our goal is to complete these checks in a timely manner, however please plan ahead as they can take up to 3 weeks to complete. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one photo.

Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee.

Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each.

Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

NEW HOURS FOR THE BOISSEVAIN OFFICE: The Boissevain RCMP business hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No office staff on Fridays.

The Deloraine RCMP business hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday are 8:30 to 3:00 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to attend during those hours to ensure someone will be here. It is also recommended to call ahead, however, in the event of an emergency, call 911 or the emergency line.
