The following is the RCMP report up to August 8, 2016. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 11 traffic violations

- 10 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 24 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 1 crimes against property

- 2 traffic accident

There will be no office staff in the Deloraine Detachment from August 1-19, 2016 except on August 5th, 12th and 19th from 9:00 - 4:00.

July 31, 2016

Police while patrolling in Ninette, observed 2 people on quads not wearing helmets. They were charged accordingly.

August 2, 2016

Police received a report of a suspicious male at the Splash Park in Killarney waving at children and hiding behind bushes the night before. The male was located and spoken to.

Police dealt with a matter under the Mental Health Act in RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain.

Police patrolled Highway 3 after receiving a report of cows on the Highway. The cows moved along prior to Police arrival.

August 3, 2016

Police received a complaint of people smoking and drinking outside the Wildlife Museum in Boissevain in the evenings. We understand this location has become increasingly popular due to Pokemon. We will be making patrols to ensure all laws are adhered to.

Police received a report of a stolen ride-on lawn mower from a back of a truck in Baldur. Should you have any information please call Killarney RCMP.  

Police dealt with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the RM of Boissevain-Morton.  

Police patrolled Pelican Lake after receiving a report of ORV's speeding in the area.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Relations Act in the Killarney Area.

Police attended with the Fire Department to a Boat House on fire on Max Lake. No injuries.

Police received a voice mail at the Killarney Detachment admin line reporting a possible impaired driver. The voice mail was left 90 minutes prior to when the Police were patrolling the area. Just a reminder should you need immediate police assistance please call 911 or your local emergency number so an officer can be dispatched.

August 5, 2016

Police are investigating after the report of 2 Break and Enters in Boissevain. Should you have any information please call Boissevain RCMP at 204-534-7262 or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-8477.

Police received a report of stolen license plates in Killarney.

Police received a report of a male disobeying a court order in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter was unfounded.  

August 6, 2016

Police attended to a residence in Boissevain after a male and female were heard arguing. On police arrival no concerns were presented by either parties or witnesses.

Police patrolled the RM of Argyle after receiving a complaint that grain trucks were not stopping at stop signs.

Police patrolled Killarney after receiving information that an impaired driver was driving in the area. The driver was not located.

Police attended to the Boissevain Campground after a noise complaint was received.

Police attended to a residence in Killarney after receiving a noise complaint. Police spoke with the home owner as the party was ending.  

August 8,2016

Police received a call of a suspicious person in a navy truck offering to do "paving" in the community of Boissevain. Police made patrols and spoke with the owner of the paving company, who had the required municipal solicitation license.

Sergeant David Porter, the Killarney Area Detachment Commander has been promoted to Staff Sergeant and transferred to the Shoal Lake RCMP Detachment effective July 25th, 2016. A special thank you to S/Sgt. Porter is extended for his service to this community.

Sergeant Jarrid St-Pierre, his replacement, arrived on August 3rd, 2016. Sgt. St-Pierre was recently promoted from his former position of 9 years as a Corporal in Carberry, Manitoba. Prior to this, Sgt. St-Pierre served 1 year in Treherne, 4 years in Powerview, 2 years in Wasagaming, and 2 years in Ste-Rose du lac. He has also served on a part time basis with the RCMP tactical team for 2 years, the RCMP underwater recovery team for 8 years, and more recently, with the RCMP Major Crimes interview team for 7 years. Sgt. St-Pierre's priorties for the detachment area are to build upon the positive partnerships and relationships already established with our client base and to continue to provide outstanding police service while ensuring safer communities.  

Reminders: 

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report the information to the local detachment. 

Child Abuse Registry checks are NOT done through the RCMP. Please call 1-800-282-8069 for any information on the Child Abuse Registry. Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches: Our goal is to complete these checks in a timely manner, however please plan ahead as they can take up to 3 weeks to complete. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one of which being photo. 

Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee.

Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each.

Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated.
