The following is the RCMP report to April 19, 2016. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

April 12, 2016

Police received a report of a white Chevrolet truck with an unknown license plate hauling a trailer with an unknown license plate that was swerving on Highway 3. Patrols were made and no erratic driving observed. Complainant was advised.

April 13, 2016

Police received a report of a break and enter to the Deloraine Pharmacy. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a complaint of criminal harassment in the Boissevain-Morton area. The matter was documented but the charge of criminal harassment was unfounded.

Police received a 911 transfer call of a structure fire in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area. It is suspected that the cause of the fire was a spark from the outdoor wood stove that heats the residence. No injuries and nothing suspicious.

April 14, 2016

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the Boissevain area.

Police received a report of a male disobeying a Protection Order. The matter is being looked into by police.

April 15, 2016

Police were dispatched to a break and enter to a business in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a second break and enter to a business in Killarney. This matter is also being investigated.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

Police received a report of debit card fraud in Cartwright. The matter is under investigation.

April 16, 2016

Police received a report of two bikes that were found in the bushes at the east side of Boissevain. Contact the Boissevain RCMP for more information.

Police were dispatched to a head on collision with a semi vs truck on Highway 10, just north of the Turtle Mountain Park. Police, fire and ambulance attended, one female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants of the vehicle were airlifted to Winnipeg with life threatening injuries and driver of the semi truck was transported to hospital. We would like to offer our deepest sympathy to the family involved and to the driver of the semi truck. Thanks to the highway department, border services and fire and ambulance members who attended this unfortunate incident.

April 17, 2016

Police were informed of an assault that took place in Killarney. No medical attention was required and the complainant did not wish to pursue charges.

Police were advised of an assault in Killarney that took place the night before at the Erin Inn. The complainant declined to press charges and the matter was concluded.

April 18, 2016

Police received a call to report that a vehicle was left on a property in Holmfield and the complainant wanted to vehicle removed. Police advised that they are able to call and have the vehicle towed if it is unwanted and on the property. This was not a police matter.

Police received a report of mischief to a vehicle in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of computer fraud in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report from a resident in Killarney of a theft of credit card and subsequent transaction. The matter is being investigated.

April 19, 2016

Police received a complaint of computer fraud in the RM of Argyle. It appears as though the Microsoft fraud is circulating again. Please be aware that Microsoft will not contact you and never give personal information or banking information to any caller.

Joke of the day:

Driving to work, a gentleman had to swerve to avoid a box that fell out of truck in front of them. Seconds later, Cst. Geotz pulled him over for reckless driving. Fortunately, Cst. Stanton had seen the carton on the road and stopped traffic and recovered the box. It was found to contain large upholstery tacks. "I'm sorry sir" , Cst. Goetz told the driver, "but I'm still going to have to write you a ticket." Amazed the driver asked for what? Cst. Goetz replied "tacks evasion".

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Child Abuse Registry checks are NOT done through the RCMP. Please call 1-800-282-8069 for any information on the Child Abuse Registry. Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches: Our goal is to complete these checks in a timely manner, however please plan ahead as they can take up to 3 weeks to complete. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one photo.

Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee.

Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each.

Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

NEW HOURS FOR THE BOISSEVAIN OFFICE: The Boissevain RCMP business hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No office staff on Fridays.

The Deloraine RCMP business hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday are 8:30 to 3:00 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to attend during those hours to ensure someone will be here. It is also recommended to call ahead, however, in the event of an emergency, call 911 or the emergency line.

RCMP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE PUBLIC THAT AFTER HOURS AND ON WEEKENDS TO USE THE POLICE EMERGENCY LINE FOR YOUR LOCAL OFFICE or 911.
