The Province of Manitoba continues to review capital projects and that includes building a new school in Brandon. The previous government had voiced support but the new government wants to take time to assess the need before making any decisions.

“We are reviewing everything. In terms of the number and demand we are looking at that.” said Education and Training Minister Ian Wishart.

Wishart realizes there is growth with the local enrollment and that will be taken into consideration.

“We plan to get the latest enrollment numbers at the end of September and will see how they look.”

Wishart knows there is a need for more spaces and he says there is a similar demand in other parts of the province. He added the government is looking at a number of options to building schools in the future.
