The leader of Manitoba's Progressive Conservatives says the latest set of NDP advertisements are not sincere. Brian Pallister's reacting to a series of ads, that feature Premier Greg Selinger admitting the party has made mistakes, while also outlining their work over the last few years. Pallister says while there's recognition the NDP's made mistakes, the latest campaign still tries to brush those issues aside.

"I'm all for apologies when they're sincere, but this so-called apology is accompanied by a lot of self-glorification about opening quick-care clinics, and a lot of self-glorification and claims of putting more money in the pockets of Manitoba. We know that no Manitoba government in Manitoba's modern history has done more to pick the pockets of Manitobans."

He describes a stated commitment to put more money into the hands of residents as humorous, given the NDP's track record on taxation.

"I found the reference Mr. Selinger made to putting money in the pockets of Manitobans, frankly, quite humorous given the fact that was a promise made in the last election campaign."

Pallister says if the premier truly wanted to apologize, he should do so by focusing on specific shortfalls such as the PST Increase, deficit budgets, and other issues. He feels the latest campaign will simply lead to scepticism and cynicism, and hopes Manitobans take the time to voice their opinions by gong to the polls in April.
