The reeve of Two Borders Municipality in Manitoba's extreme southwest corner hopes with one year of amalgamation completed they can move forward and deal with more pressing issues in 2016.

Debbie McMechan said it was a challenge to bring three municipalities under one umbrella and council did its best to deal with the issues and do what was right for ratepayers.

"Things are good we just had our year end financial meeting and were please. We went into 2015 with a pretty big question mark because we had a lot of things to get accomplished and there was no blueprint how to do this."

In 2016 McMechan wants to tackle more policy issues. "We didn't have time in 2015 because we were just trying to get the municipality running down the road."

McMechan says they have some outstanding issues to get resolved and off the table in 2016. "When you bring three old municipalities together all the things that were bubbling on the back burners are still there and it didn't make it any easier to resolve when we came together."

She hopes those differences will be settled in 2016.
