The Municipality of North Norfolk's considering an invitation to join the board of the Growth and Prosperity Stakeholders Group.

Mayor Neil Christoffersen explains the group's working to install natural gas hookups in municipalities south of North Norfolk.

"And the closest attachment they could get to the gas line is in the Bagot area," he says, "So, as a result of that, we've had discussions with them, and plan on contributing some money, so as a result of that, they have sent us a letter asking us if we want to be on the board."

Christoffersen says some North Norfolk residents might benefit from the gas line being installed.

"How many people hook up in North Norfolk remains to be seen," he says, "But I know along Number 2 (Highway) there's been a tremendous uptake on this plan as well. And goes all the way down into the Pilot Mound/Crystal City area, too, so it's quite wide-ranging."

Christoffesen adds the Stakeholders Group is getting its affairs in order to qualify for provincial and federal funding.
