Manitoba's municipal leaders gather in Brandon this week for their annual convention.

This will be the 17th annual Association of Manitoba Municipalities convention and the first with the amalgamated councils.

The Province of Manitoba forced smaller municipalities to amalgamate at the end of 2014.

Municipal Government minister Drew Caldwell says considering the changes things have gone smoothly.

“We've had pretty positive feed back but there are still municipalities that we are assisting with the transition. There has been increased tax base for many municipalities and the ability to access federal and provincial dollars has increased quite dramatically.”

Delegates have 44 resolutions on the books dealing with everything from taxation to hunting.

The convention has a number of speakers and breakout sessions for the mayors, reeves and councilors.

The AMM Convention starts Monday afternoon and wraps up Wednesday evening.
