Every summer countless anglers take to the waters in hopes of landing that big fish. Regional Field Supervisor Eastern Region for Manitoba Conservation Earl Simmons has seen the majority of people abiding by the rules and regulations for fishing.

"Generally our compliance rate for limits has been good. There has been tickets issued in the various districts," said Simmons. "The only exception would be Falcon Lake, where we certainly saw a rise in tickets being issued. Some weekends over twenty tickets have been issued for people  retaining fish in the slot limit. That's a fish in between 45cm and 70cm or 18inches to 28 inches. They have to release those fish. We had a little bit of problem down in Falcon Lake where the officers were writing a lot of tickets, seizing fish and equipment down there, where there was problems."

Simmons noted the number of tickets in that area were quite high compared to normal, and would like to see that number decrease in the future.

He outlined what tickets may cost someone if not abiding by the rules.
