Brandon-Souris MP Larry Maguire is pleased to see the fight against Cool appears to coming to an end.

The country of origin legislation has been blamed for costing livestock producers in Canada millions of dollars each year over the past several years.

“It's great news that we've won the tribunal on the Americans in regards to COOL and we've been fighting for this for years. It looks like U-S legislators are going to repeal the legislation.”

Maguire is a member of the Federal Standing Committee on Agriculture. “We were ready to take retaliatory trade action if the Americans didn't move to repeal the legislation but it looks like we have avoided the need to take that action” said Maguire.
