Winkler gospel and soul musician, Jayme Giesbrecht has now released her debut album To Keep You From Falling.

Giesbrecht releases the album with her band after close to 15 years of singing strictly hymns and southern gospel music growing up.

"I met J.P. Lepage, Jonathan Alexiuk, players on my album that kind of encouraged me to explore my voice a little bit more," stated Giesbrecht.  "There is something they heard in my voice, perhaps a soul edge.  J.P. really encouraged me to explore that and from there we started the Soul Revue Band which we do Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner covers.  That is a huge stretch of the voice to bring out the edge and the growl behind it.  That is something I didn't realize that I had."

Giesbrecht noted she knew it was time to put together a CD a few years back when the traditional hymns and gospel music began to have special meaning to her.

She explained how she came up with the title of her first album.

"I went to church my whole life.  I like the songs, I like the message.  One of my favorite parts in my home church was the benediction which is after the service when the pastor goes up and shares a benediction from the bible.  Always at the end of the book it will say 'To him who is able to do immeasurably more' or 'To him who is able to keep you from stumbling'.  That was my favorite one, to keep you from falling, found in Jude."

To Keep You From Falling is now on store shelves at local music stores and is also for sale on www.cdbaby.com.

Giesbrecht shared what she believes is the hit song on her album.

Meanwhile, Giesbrecht encourages young musicians to listen to positive people around them and stay true to themselves.
