Brandon-Souris Libertarian Candidate Frank Godon is withdrawing his name from the upcoming federal election.

Godon, who is from Boissevain, said he has purchased a business in Estevan and will be moving to that province in the near future.

"This actually happened within the last three weeks," said Godon. "An opportunity arose there in Saskatchewan and I took it."

He notes right now a new candidate has not yet been selected.

Godon explained what the Libertarian Party of Canada is all about.

"The Libertarian Party offers freedom, basically liberty. The other thing is we believe in limited government, a small government, workable government and a government that's controlled by the people - not the other way around."

He adds the party fights for personal rights and privacy, opposing the passage of Bill C-51.

Godon notes that he appreciates the encouragement that he has received from Conservative MP Larry Maguire, but adds that he will be throwing his support in favour of fellow Boissevain-ite and Green Party candidate David Neufeld.
