The Killarney Foodgrains Bank Grow Project is ready to harvest and 15 combines are ready to move to the 140 acres of Winter Wheat growing on the Dennis and Betty Turner field located 10 miles east of Killarney.

Grow project field manager, Myron Peters, says the sample looks great and they are ready to make some dust.

They are still accepting funding, as not every acre has been sponsored as of yet. Winter Wheat is one of the first crops to come off, so fund-raising will still continue even after the crop is harvested.

Betty Turner is a board member of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank Killarney Grow Project. She has been working tirelessly to sponsor the 140 acre field, acre for acre.  She explains the fund-raising sponsorship program, and how the federal government furthers the financial giving by matching donations 4 times.

A unique twist to this summer's Grow Project is that Turner Farms is celebrating 125 years of farming this year.  Betty Turner explains how having this year's Foodgrains crop of Winter Wheat is extra special to them, by bringing two truly amazing events together.

The Killarney Foodgrains Bank Grow Project harvest will take place today at 11:30am at the Dennis and Betty Turner Farm 10 miles straight east of Killarney on Neelin Road.

All are welcome to come for lunch at 11:30.  Combining will be after lunch.
