The fundraising co-ordinator of the Room for Renewal campaign in Brandon says they are nearing their goal of $600,000.

Karen Chrest said they picked up a big boost mid way through this past week when Westoba Credit Union made a major contribution of $50,000 in support of the campaign.

“The Brandon Regional Health Centre provides such valuable services to so many Manitobans,” says Larry Wark, Chair of the Westoba Credit Union Board of Directors. “Westoba is proud to support the BRHC Foundation’s Room for Renewal campaign and help make the time people spend at the Health Centre more comfortable.”
“We have far exceeded our time frame for raising this money” said Chrest. She continues to amazed at how strong support is from across Western Manitoba when it comes to health care projects.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, and all the future users of the upgraded facility, I want to thank Westoba Credit Union for once again showing its commitment to bettering health care for the people of Brandon, and Western Manitoba,” says BRHC Foundation board chair Derrick Stewart. “Westoba has been, and continues to be, a strong supporter of the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation and for that we are extremely grateful.

The BRHC Foundation “Room for Renewal” campaign was launched in September of 2014 with a goal to raise $600,000 in support of the upcoming renovation of patient wards at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. The patient impact of this project will be increased bed numbers, creation of single and semi-private rooms, updated bathrooms, and more.

Chest said the Westoba Credit Union donation brings the total for cash and pledges raised to date to approximately $535,000.

“We should reach our goal by the end of June.”
