This past Saturday, just before midnight, Russell RCMP were called to the scene of a collision approximately 10 kilometers south of Russell on Provincial Highway #16.

Initial investigation revealed that a northbound SUV collided head-on with a southbound pickup truck.

Two of the passengers of the truck were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital while the driver was uninjured.

The driver of the SUV, a 73 year-old male from Inglis and sole occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Officers continue to investigate the contributing factors to the accident.
