A health official in western Manitoba says it remains difficult to find doctors for the region.

Michelle McKay is Director of Medical Services with Prairie Mountain Health.  She stated program's like rural week that wrapped up friday work but take time to create results.
McKay said the search for doctors is ongoing.

"I wouldn't say it's getting any better it's probably even getting a little bit worse.  It's sort of part of our reality and we just continue to plug away and events like rural week obviously aren't going to help for a few years."

McKay noted this summer seven family residents will start work in Prairie Mountain; however, she said they tend to locate to larger centres like Dauphin and Brandon.

She said medical graduates are choosing Prairie Mountain but not very often the smaller communities.
